Privacy Policy

Acima Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) establishes the following Privacy Policy (“this Policy”) regarding the handling of users’ personal information in the services provided on this website (“the Services”).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

“Personal Information” refers to information defined as “personal information” under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan, and means information regarding a living individual that can identify a specific person based on name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, or other descriptions contained in such information. It also includes individual identification codes such as facial images, fingerprints, voiceprints, and health insurance policy numbers.

Article 2 (Method of Collecting Personal Information)

The Company may request users to provide Personal Information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number, and driver’s license number when registering for the Services.

In addition, the Company may obtain transaction records or settlement-related information, including Personal Information, exchanged between users and business partners. Such information may be collected from the Company’s partners (“Partners”), including information providers, advertisers, and advertising distribution services.

Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

The Company collects and uses Personal Information for the following purposes:

To provide and operate the Services
To respond to user inquiries (including identity verification)
To send emails regarding new features, updates, campaigns, and information on other services offered by the Company
To contact users as necessary for maintenance or important notifications
To identify users who violate the Terms of Use or who attempt to use the Services for fraudulent or improper purposes, and to refuse their use
To allow users to view, update, or delete their registered information or to check their usage status
To invoice users for fees in paid services
For purposes incidental to the above

Article 4 (Changes to the Purpose of Use)

The Company may change the purpose of use of Personal Information only when the new purpose is reasonably related to the original purpose.
If such changes are made, the Company will notify users or publicly announce the revised purpose through a method prescribed by the Company.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

The Company will not provide Personal Information to third parties without prior consent from the user, except in the following cases or when permitted by applicable laws and regulations:

When necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and obtaining consent is difficult
When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children and obtaining consent is difficult
When cooperation is required with government agencies or local authorities in performing statutory duties, and obtaining consent may impede such operations
When the following items have been announced or made public in advance and the Company has filed a notification with the Personal Information Protection Commission:
- That the purpose of use includes provision to third parties
- The categories of data provided
- The method of providing the data
- That provision will stop upon the user’s request
- How users may request cessation of such provision

(Exceptions: When recipients are not considered third parties)

The following cases do not constitute third-party provision:

When the Company entrusts part or all of the handling of Personal Information within the scope necessary for achieving the purpose of use
When Personal Information is provided due to business succession through merger or other reasons
When Personal Information is jointly used with specific parties, and the Company has notified users of the details in advance or made such details easily accessible

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When a user requests disclosure of their Personal Information, the Company shall, without delay, disclose the information.
However, disclosure may be withheld in whole or in part in the following cases, and the user will be notified accordingly:

When disclosure may harm the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the user or a third party
When disclosure may significantly impede the proper execution of the Company’s business
When disclosure would violate laws or regulations

A handling fee of JPY 1,000 per request will be charged.
Non-personal information such as history or characteristic data will not be disclosed in principle.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

Users may request correction, addition, or deletion (“Correction, etc.”) of their Personal Information if the information held by the Company is inaccurate.

If the Company determines that such a request is necessary, it will promptly make the Correction, etc.
If the Company decides not to make changes, the user will be notified without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use, etc.)

If a user requests suspension or deletion (“Suspension, etc.”) of Personal Information on the grounds that it is used beyond the necessary scope or obtained by improper means, the Company will promptly conduct an investigation.

If the Company determines that the request is valid, it will promptly implement the Suspension, etc.
The Company will notify the user if Suspension, etc. is executed or if a decision is made not to implement it.

If Suspension, etc. requires excessive costs or is otherwise difficult to implement, the Company may take alternative measures to protect the user’s rights and interests.

Article 9 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)

Unless otherwise specified by law or this Policy, the Company may revise this Policy without notifying users.
The revised Policy will take effect when posted on the Company’s website.
